You know that summer is around the corner when the purple haze of jacaranda blooms begins to appear in suburbs across Perth. As the jacarandas in Perth come into bloom, it makes for some beautiful photo opportunities.
After spending the last few years hunting across the city for the best blooms, in this guide I reveal the bests spots to find them and everything else you need to know.
When Do Jacarandas Bloom in Perth
Usually the jacarandas in Perth begin to bloom in late October. The flowers last for about a month until the end of November or early December, with full foliage being the ideal time to get the best photo of the jacarandas.
Whilst this can vary slightly from season to season depending on the weather, mid-November is usually peak bloom.
2024 Perth Jacaranda Update:
I’ve noticed the jacarandas have begun to bloom in late October around Subiaco. I expect peak bloom will be around the first week of November to about mid-November this year, but keep an eye out for updates!

Best Jacaranda Streets in Perth
Applecross
Applecross is THE jacaranda Perth hotspot. This leafy suburb, located near the Swan River, has some beautiful streets lined with jacaranda trees.
Nisbet Rd is THE famous Jacaranda street of Perth. This spot is featured frequently on Perth Instagram accounts. When visiting in 2020, the blooms weren’t fully out yet so I found another equally as beautiful spot around the corner – Ardross St near Tweedale Rd.
The Applecross Community Hall is another lovely photo spot with a big jacaranda in front of it. You’ll find it at the intersection of Canning Hwy and Kishorn Rd.
Just a reminder that this is a residential street, and is a popular spot come jacaranda season. Please respect the residents that live here, and be mindful and respectful of oncoming traffic (and watch out for bin day on Mondays!)
North Perth
I’d seen the most incredible photo on Instagram of a street in North Perth with jacarandas and the city skyline. This spot is Leake Street which you can see in my photo below.
Bring a telephoto zoom lens (or use the zoom on your smartphone) to really enhance the city in the background.
Whilst in the area, check out the jacarandas at Hyde Park, and grab a coffee and donut at Chu Bakery. This park is a beautiful spot for a walk all year round, but I think it is particularly scenic in spring or autumn.
Subiaco
Visit the appropriately named Old Jacaranda Way in Subiaco for some of the best jacaranda trees Perth has to offer. This street certainly lives up to its name! While there are a few trees here, they are more spread out and not as dense compared to Applecross, but the trees develop a very thick and picturesque foliage.
I love this spot in autumn as well for its incredible autumn colours and foliage in the park nearby.

Wembley
A short drive from Old Jacaranda Way you’ll find some large jacaranda trees lining the streets in Wembley. It’s worth going for a drive through the tree-lined streets, but my pick is Ruislip Street, where the photo below was taken.
Perth CBD
For jacarandas near the Perth CBD, head over to Mount St in the west end of the CBD. You’ll find jacarandas lining their way up the hill leading towards Kings Park.
It’s a great spot to capture the jacaranda flowers with the city towers framed in the background like my photo below.
Grab a coffee or brunch from the Mount Street Breakfast Bar while you’re there, or go for a walk around Kings Park.
South Perth
A great way to spend a sunny morning in Perth is to take a stroll around the Swan River and the South Perth Foreshore. Check out some of the jacaranda streets nearby, such as Strickland St and Antstey St near Angelo Street Market.
East Perth
Another scenic jacaranda spot in Perth is around East Perth, specifically in the streets around Claisebrook Cove. There’s numerous cafes and pubs around the water, making it a great spot to have a coffee or beer while soaking up the sunshine.
Combine your visit with a walk over to the Matagarup Bridge near Optus Stadium.
Guildford
The historic suburb of Guildford is charming all-year round thanks to its beautifully preserved 19th century architecture and buildings. You’ll find historic pubs, vintage stores and bustling coffee spots just a stone’s throw from the Swan Valley Wine Region.
There are several jacaranda trees outside the heritage-listed Guildford Hotel that make for a beautiful sight. Being one of Perth’s older suburbs, I’m sure there are more waiting be found in the leafy streets nearby – maybe I’ll seek them out this season!
Final Thoughts
One of the things I love the most about jacaranda season in Perth is simply driving around and finding new spots where the purple haze can be seen peeking out. It’s a great excuse to explore more of this wonderful city, maybe discovering a new coffee or brunch spot along the way.
I’ve shared what I think are the best 8 spots to see the jacarandas in Perth, but please let me know in the comments or send me a DM on Instagram if you’ve got any others you think I should add to this list – I’d love to hear from you!
