The Novotel Perth Murray St hotel is a newer addition to Perth’s burgeoning hotel scene. and is arguably situated in one of Perth’s most central areas in the heart of the Perth CBD.
Read on for my review of the newest Novotel in Perth, based on my stay in December 2022
About
The Novotel Perth Murray Street is one of the newer hotels in Perth, opening just before the pandemic. But with Western Australia (and Australia’s) hard borders put up, this brand new hotel was quickly turned into a quarantine hotel by the State Government, before re-opening and relaunching for guests in August 2022.
This hotel is the second Novotel addition to the Perth CBD, with the original Novotel Perth Langley located less than 2 kilometres away near Langley Park. This 4.5-star Novotel Perth Murray street hotel is part of the Accor group.
Room
There are 431 rooms, ranging from Standard King or Double rooms up to Executive King Suites.
I stayed in a Superior King Room. My first impression was how sizeable the room was for an inner-city hotel.
At 24m2 and with a full-sized wardrobe, I was more than impressed with the size. Nice additions included the lounge chaise by the window, and a small table and chair. Probably not the best for the business traveller, but perfect for a leisure traveller like myself.
My room on the 14th floor faced the residential apartments on the side of the hotel.
The room (and the hotel itself) is very new and modern looking, and the decor was neutral and minimalistic. I loved the inclusion of the print of the Blue Boat Shed – one of Perth’s most instagrammable spots!
Despite the prime location in the middle of one of Perth’s main CBD streets, I couldn’t hear any noise from the busy street thanks to the double-glazed windows.
The room was spotless and clean, with plenty of thick towels in the bathroom (I think there were four in total – just for little ol’ me!) and the King sized bed was very comfy. The blackout curtains did a great job of keeping the room dark.
The bathroom had a huge shower with both a rainfall and a normal shower head. Toiletries were provided in refillable bottles, which I prefer due to the landfill impact of small plastic “single-use” sized toiletries.
The only downside I faced with the room was that the air conditioning could not be adjusted.
When I arrived in the late afternoon, I had the full west-facing afternoon sun streaming into my room, making it very warm. Despite being a new hotel, the air conditioning system cannot be adjusted in temperature at all which I find a shortcoming for a 4.5 star hotel.
I didn’t use it, but the TV has Chromecast allowing Netflix etc to be streamed from your personal device, and there is also a Bluetooth speaker and clock in the room.

Facilities
What sets the Novotel Perth Murray St apart from other 4-star hotels in the CBD are the numerous facilities.
There is a heated outdoor alfresco terrace pool on Level 12, as well as a sauna and steam room available for guest use. There is a 24-hour gym on this floor too.
The pool has some loungers, but it’s a pretty small area – if you are looking for a hotel with a large pool and lounge area, and bar service, Crown Metropol is a better option (albeit with a higher price tag!).

Dining
A buffet breakfast is available at the hotel restaurant Miss Mi’s, located behind the entrance foyer of the hotel.
I really enjoyed the substantial selection on offer, although it is an additional charge on top of the room rate unless you have selected it as part of your room package.
Miss Mi’s is open for dinner service, with its modern Asian fusion dining. I was lucky enough to experience a media preview of the menu by the head chef and his team and WOW!
It was a dining experience to remember. I’m looking forward to going back and trying my favourite dishes again!
Room service is available to order from the TV in your rooms, but I didn’t get to experience this during my short stay.
There is a bar in the foyer of the hotel, which is a pleasant place for a before or after-dinner drink.
Location
The location of this hotel is one of its major drawcards.
It is located in the heart of the CBD on one of Perth’s main inner city streets, Murray St. There are lots of dining, cafes, bars, pubs and shopping opportunities mere minutes from the hotel.
It is easy to get around the Perth CBD, with the free CAT bus running near the hotel. The Perth train station is also about a 5-minute walk from the hotel entrance.

Final Verdict
All in all, I think the Novotel Perth Murray Street is one of the best places to stay in Perth.
A clean, modern and comfortable hotel in a very convenient location. With room rates starting from $200/night (AUD), this 4.5 star offers excellent value-for-money accommodation in the heart of Perth city.
This is a great hotel in Perth for travellers with families – at the time of writing, accommodation (in a shared room) and breakfast are free for children. There were lots of kids enjoying the pool on the weekend I visited too.
As someone visiting solo, I noticed lots of families and couples staying in this hotel, so clearly it is popular with both types of travellers.
If you are after something just a tad less family-centric (for solo travellers or couples) with more luxury options, I recommend the QT Perth as an alternative – although there is no pool here (but they have a fabulous rooftop bar!).
The downsides of my stay were the aircon settings couldn’t be adjusted, and that it was a very slow check-in process – not what a traveller wants after spending all day on the road.
